ErgoTorq "PinchPoint Protectors" are specially designed to provide a permanent solution to the pinch-point "safety hazard" that exists between the front of virtually any manufacturers nutrunner tool and the back of the socket mounted to its’ square drive.

Watch our product video!

  • This "Safety Hazard" has caused numerous broken and amputated fingers on operators who were wearing gloves while operating tooling at a variety of assembly plants. (including GM, Ford, Lear, Integram and JCI)
  • By enclosing the square drive connection between the nutrunner tool and its attachment were the problem exists, ErgoTorq "PinchPoint Protectors" eliminate the pinch-point problem and the potential for an accident.
  • The "PinchPoint Protector" is mounted to the tool using the same design as our "Collar" units with three hollow-lock set screws locking it in place on our mounting sleeve. The front-end hole I.D. of the protectors UHMW material is sized to provide a .025" clearance fit for the socket being used to allow it to turn freely. Access to the square drive release pin is provided through the hollow-lock set screws to facilitate socket installation and removal.
  • ErgoTorq "PinchPoint Protectors" have been approved for use on all tools in all Johnson Control Inc. and Lear Seating plants. Numerous plants have installed ErgoTorq "PinchPoint Protectors" on all of the tools in their plant, in a pro-active effort to eliminate the tooling pinchpoint "safety hazard" and prevent injuries.
  • Atlas Copco reviewed the use of our product on their tooling at a JCI plant in Oberlin OH, and certified that it does eliminate the pinchpoint hazard.

Different PinchPoint Protector Models

Standard Type
The Standard "PinchPoint Protector" is mounted to the tool using the same design as our "Collar" units with three hollow-lock set screws locking it in place on our standard mounting sleeve. The front-end hole I.D. of the protectors UHMW material is sized to provide a .025" clearance fit for the socket being used to allow it to turn freely. Access to the square drive release pin is provided through the hollow-lock set screws to facilitate socket installation and removal.

Spare or replacement "PinchPoint Covers" for this model List for ~ $45.00/ea.

Guide Socket Type
The Guided Socket Type "PinchPoint Protector" fits over the outside of the round head of certain nutrunner tools, and are locked in place with the use of three setscrews.

These units have the added benefit of incorporating a needle bearing in the front of the unit to support the socket, as well as a "super tough" nylon material inner race sleeve which accomodates a wide variety of socket sizes. Although not as versatile as our Standard "PinchPoint Protector", these units have a significantly less intial cost (List Price of $168.00/ea) and a extended service life due to the use of the needle bearing. Spare parts are available for these units.

Basic "PinchPoint Protector" Cover
The Basic "PinchPoint Protector" Cover is made from a super tough nylon "Delrin" material, and fit over the outside of tools with round heads similar to the Guided Socket Type. These units are locked in place with the use of three setscrews. Although not as versatile or reliable as our Standard or Guided Socket Type "PinchPoint Protector" these units have an even less intial cost, with a List Price of $40.00/ea. Spare parts are not available for these units.
