ErgoTorq Collars provide a solution to serious safety concern with nutrunner tooling

Over the past few months, it has been identified that one of the many benefits provided by ErgoTorq Collar units has proven to be the resolution to a serious safety problem inherent with anglehead nutrunner type tooling.

This problem has resulted in a broken and an amputated finger at two different manufacturing facilities.

The problem occurs when operators who normally wear gloves while operating their tool place their hand over the head of the tool to gain better control. When they do this, the glove can then come in contact with the joint between the tool square drive and the driven attachment. The space that normally exists between the front of the tool and the back of the loosely fitted attachment now becomes a pinch point which can grab the glove and pull the operators hand into the tool while it is running. With the speed and torque that these tools are running at, serious injuries can occur very quickly.

The solution to this problem comes from ErgoTorq's patent pending design which completely covers the connection between the tool's square drive and the driven attachment, completely eliminating the pinch point and the potential for this problem to occur.

Although we cannot take credit for identifying this potential problem during the design of our Collars, it has proven to be another significant "Problem Solving" feature provided by the product.
